No matter what anyone says, do not let them tell you anything different…..The Guildhall IS the oldest pub in Joburg. We’re talking late nineteenth century here people, tent camp town. Now under a newly arrived management, the place is still ticking by. We went on a mission to firstly validate whether it did in fact own the rumored title, and then simply try get ourselves a cold beer. The adventure had a nice simple objective, and we were more than pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the amount we payed for it all.
Head for the Joburg Mall on Jeppe Street in the city centre. It’s a block east of The Lister Medical Building, the venue that’s home to the amazing Private Practice events. Look out for the large white sign with Joburg Mall written in red. On the top floor is Cafe Addis. Eat fragrant curries with your hands in the company of Addis locals and remember to store any left-over sour-dough pancake in an airtight container at home…
3 Simple objectives, and one day of Portuguese goodness! It was amazing to see more people joining us, so we got some fresh faces, as well as some of the old who’ve never let us down. Overall, it was a pretty successful day.
This is the second in the series. The team went off to Doll House on Louis Botha after a tip off that the milkshakes were amazingly double thick, and double malty. The day coincided with another event in town, so it ended up being a little double feauture!
The idea is simple. In order to truly love something, you first have to understand it. Johannesburg is no different in this regard.
Connect with the real city through those who live and play here. The result? A catalogue of Johannesburg like no other.
